It is hardly surprising that many people think there is a big difference difference between graffiti and tagging. Some are of the opinion that people who do tags and call themselves graffiti artists should be ashamed of themselves and that graffiti IS street art. It seems there is a common misconception between the definition of graffiti and street art. At the end of the day how did “graffiti art” or “street art” all start? How did some of today’s graffiti artists become appreciated and successful?

Today some graffiti artists are hired and paid a large sum of money to complete a graffiti project whereas others “tag” public and private property costing tax payers as well as business and property owners a lot of money. It cannot be denied that there are some outstanding graffiti artists out there and below i have found (with some input from our readers as well as from people on quora.com) some really outstanding graffiti art. Looking at the London graffiti scene, Mike Lambert has an absolutely amazing photostream of work around London which i am sure many will appreciate. Thank you to all those who gave input and gave their opinions and we hope you enjoy the below 15 stunning graffiti artworks:
