Adobe has released Source Sans Pro, its first open source font family. The font is also being added to Typekit and Google Web Fonts to be freely available for use by web developers. Paul D. Hunt, the font’s designer, announced the arrival of Source Sans Pro on Adobe Typblography and attributes his inspiration partly to the Gothic fonts of Morris Fueller Benton, a prolific American type designer responsible for typefaces such as Goudy Old Style, Franklin Gothic and Bodoni.... The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam’s logo has undergone a controversial redesign, courtesy of Mevis & Van Deursen. The duo, currently without a website, have been collaborating since they graduated in 1986 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. The museum, which displays classic modern art, contemporary art and design, is currently closed due to renovation and will be opening on the 23rd September this year. Germany-based Serviceplan Gruppe have won best in show in the One Show Design awards. One Show Design 2012, one of The One Club’s awards, were held earlier this month in New York. The winning project was a revolutionary sun-powered annual report for the agency’s client Austria Solar.
