Graphic Design began the application process in July for its all-new Student Council, to be set up in conjunction with CreativeInterns.com. This week we are very pleased to announce the 10 members selected for what is to be our first ever Student Council. The main purpose of the council is to transform GraphicDesign into a student-friendy site, accommodating for and giving a voice to students on both GraphicDesign.com and CreativeInterns.com.
Drum roll, please…..
Heading up the team is Juliette Weiss, President of the Student Council. In this role Weiss will be continually interacting with the student community on GraphicDesign.com. Assisting Weiss is Vice-President Jane Gardner, a Design Fellow who will play an important part in implementing student-friendly changes on the site.
With over a decade of experience working in small business, Ariela Baranov shall be the Student Council’s Secretary. Due to the skills she has acquired from her work with print materials and products, corporate branding, marketing and social media, Baranov is the perfect candidate to prepare material for each Student Council Meeting.
We have appointed two Communications Directors for the Council; Autumn Haac and Jessica Conigliaro. Haac is currently pursuing a Graphic Design degree at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Conigliaro attends the New York Institute of Technology where she is a member of the school’s student-run ad agency.
The Social Media Managers for the Student Council are; Fred Carriedo and Richard Blumberg. Incorporating a social media strategy and branding initiative into the Council, Carriedo studies at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco while Blumberg is a Web and Multimedia Design student in Manhattan.
Georgina Morley and Katherine Harding are to become Partnership Development Managers, bringing their substantial leadership expertise to the team. Morley serves as the Advertising and Public Relations Chair of the International Association of Business Communicators. Harding set up her own graphic design and photography this year, still finding time to attend Lindenwood University in Missouri. Between them our Partnership Development Managers will be responsible for organizing and creating opportunities for Student Council members and student readers.
Finally, at the helm of the Student Council is Program Director Marc Scoleri, the co-founder of CreativeVillage and CreativeInterns.com. Scoleri will bring a wealth of experience to the Council.
There you have it, our brand-new, dynamic Student Council team. A group that are sure to bring innovation to Graphic Design and CreativeInterns.com, establishing a defined and engaging relationship between the Council and our student readers.
