Enterprising by Design: Kansas University Student Design Center

When students at Kansas University (KU) realized demand for quality design services on campus, they proposed an enterprising solution—a student run design center. According to The University Daily Kansan, “Student Senate president Libby Johnson and vice president Gabe Bliss pitched the idea” for the Student Design Center after learning that student organizations were having a hard time effectively communicating to the larger student population. Thus the KU Student Design Center was born. The center, which “serves as a creative... CONTINUE READING

Some graffiti artists are in jail whilst their work is exhibited in a gallery. How does that make any sense? There is a lot of Graffiti in Berlin and to be honest it is pretty amazing. In the 1980s political slogans and general comments on the current situation... CONTINUE READING

The 2012 Oscars: Brands Compete for Cut of the “Red Carpet”

Whether you were focused on Angie’s leg, JLo’s… um, neckline or genuinely interested in seeing who would bring home the award for best picture during last Sunday night’s Academy Awards show, major brands were there hoping to catch your attention. Using Smart Filters in Photoshop

One of the greatest things about Photoshop is the ability to create different effects using the various settings found in Adobe Photoshop. Things You Will Not Learn in Graphic Design School

After almost ten years working as freelance graphic and web designer, there are many things I miss about my time in graphic design school. First, the environment was excellent to become better at designing; no constraints, lots of creative freedom, passionate conversations about design between classmates, interesting teachers, and much more. However, I must say that although studying graphic design taught me some solid basics about graphic design, there are areas that I did not cover in graphic design... CONTINUE READING
